Offers galore from e-wallet and credit card providers, booking portals and theatres

Watching a movie in a theatre with your loved ones is a different experience altogether. And the experience gets better when you can get fantastic offers on movie tickets. Offers are plenty — be it from online ticket booking companies, e-wallet providers, credit-card companies, banks or even theatre exhibitors. For instance, Paytm is currently running a ‘buy one, get one free’ offer. Thus, by using their wallet to buy movie tickets, you can effectively get the ticket for your partner for free.

Do some homework

To make the best of the available offers, it makes sense to do some homework, while making your movie plans. For starters, have a look at the offers provided by the online ticket booking companies such as or They usually give a quick update on their website of most offers that are currently on. You can also take a look at offers from theatres in your neighbourhood. Exhibitors like PVR Cinemas, Inox movies and Cinepolis usually run their own promotional offers, which include discounts on food and beverages as well.

PVR Cinemas, for instance, has a ‘deal day’ that runs on tickets as well as food and beverages. For some cities, it could be on a Tuesday, for some others, Thursday. Club Cinepolis has reward points as well as offers communicated regularly through emails. Among the bank wallets, ‘pockets’ from ICICI Bank offer ₹100 off on tickets booked through on Saturdays and Sundays.

Also, check if your telecom service provider has any offer on movies. ‘JioMoney’, gives a Pepsi free and popcorn worth ₹150 for buying tickets at SRS Cinema Box office until August 31.

Moreover, if you are a movie buff, you can even go for co-branded credit cards that might suit your requirements.

RBL Bank has a co-branded card with that gives 10 per cent discount on movie tickets and it comes along with complimentary Bookmyshow voucher worth ₹500. PVR Kotak credit card offers one or two PVR movie tickets free on spends worth ₹10,000 or more in a monthly billing cycle.

Read the fineprint

Most offers come with fineprint. To get offers provided by exhibitors such as PVR, you may have to book the tickets through their portal or by downloading their app.

The co-branded card from RBL gives the discounts for only up to 15 transactions in a year. The maximum discount will be ₹100 for a single transaction.

For the PVR Kotak credit cards, if the ticket price is more than ₹400, the excess has to be borne by the customer. MobiKwik, offers ₹150 cashback on a minimum transaction of ₹300.

However, it is applicable for those tickets bought through, and At, you get 50 per cent cashback on MobiKwik-led purchases, but up to a maximum discount of ₹150.

So it is best to be fully aware of what you are getting into to avoid disappointment. Finally, ensure the movie you have chosen has a good review.
