Buying domain names on the web can rake in big bucks, if you have a winner for a name. Sought-after names can fetch millions of dollars at auctions.
According to Sedo, the world’s largest domain marketplace and monetisation provider, the highest-valued domain sales for 2014 was mm.com , which sold for a whopping $1.2 million. In the second place was true.com which raked in $350,000. Malls.com , flashcards.com, gab.com and kaffee.de , were some of the other top selling names. For those health freaks out there, vitaminc.com , fetched a cool $104,000.
But not all names that were sold during the year were short and pithy. Try reverseosmosiswaterfiltrationsystem.com , or its5oclocksomewheremargaritas.com — featuring in the top 10 longest domain names in 2014.
