RPP bags housing project in Sri Lanka

R.P.P. Infra Projects Ltd, the BSE-listed infrastructure and construction company, has started a new venture in Sri Lanka, R.P.P. Infra Projects (Lanka) Limited. This company will participate in the construction of a housing project for the internally displaced in Sri Lanka, a contract it bagged recently, according to a press release from R.P.P.

The housing projects are in Vavunia, Mullaitheeveu, Kilinochchi, Mannar and Jaffna districts of Northern Province. Hindustan Pre-Fab Ltd, a Government of India subsidiary, is executing the project. A to Z Maintenance and Engineering Services Limited of Gurgaon, Haryana, would also be executing a part of the IDP Projects under RPP Infra Projects in Sri Lanka.

R.P.P. Infra Projects Ltd also announced the bagging of contract for strengthening of Contour Canal in Parambikulam and Aliyar in Tamil Nadu. This effectively takes the order book position to a promising Rs 2,250 cr.

Mr P. Arulsundaram, Chairman & Managing Director, R.P.P. Infra Projects Ltd, said in the release, R.P.P. Infra Projects has completed more than 200 civil projects in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It has also ventured into Sri Lanka for a railway project and Republic of Gabon for mass housing project.

Unitech logs high booking

Unitech Limited, the integrated real-estate development and infrastructure projects company, which recently launched mid-income housing projects – Chaitanya and Ekanta in Chennai, has booked over 500 units, says a company press release.

The housing projects are located on the 70-acre North Town Township in Perambur. Phase-I of these projects has been sold out. North Town is a joint venture between Unitech Ltd and Arihant Foundations and Housing Ltd.

North Town Township in North Chennai, a trade and commerce hub, is close to the upcoming IT hub in Ambattur.

Chaitanya and Ekanta are mid-income housing projects with units of 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments of 630 to 1,396 sq. ft. The development has modern amenities such as clubhouse with gymnasium, swimming pool and central landscaping. The built-up area planned in the township is about 80 lakh sq.ft.

According to Unitech, the company has strengthened its presence in South India with the launch of Chaitanya and Ekanta. Its previous launches including the Gardens Galleria in Bangalore, Uniworld City, Greenwood City, Birch Court and Gardens in Chennai; Palace Court in Mysore have been successful.

The launches of Chaitanya and Ekanta were in line with the company's business plan to launch almost 10 million sq.ft of projects during the calendar year.

The company has clarified in the press release that the ongoing telecom matter pertains to Unitech Wireless Tamilnadu Pvt Ltd (Uninor), which is a separate legal entity engaged in the telecom business, and will not impact Unitech Ltd, the real estate company. Unitech would continue to focus on its real estate business.

99acres claims leadership slot

Real estate portal 99acres.com and Naukri.com, the employment portal, both promoted by Info Edge, are the online leaders in attracting traffic, according to ComScore, a global internet information provider, says a press release from Naukri.com.

The real estate portals' traffic share of about 47 per cent is more than the combined shares of its main competitors.

In May 2011, 99acres.com got 2.5 crore page views which is more than the combined page views of its two main competitors. On an average a user spends 14 minutes on the site. Also, with over 20,000 paid brokers and builders as clients and with 20 offices in 15 cities and a sales force of over 150 people, 99acres is the leading property portal in India.

Naukri.com has got over 14 crore total page views in May.

Total page views are the average amount of time users spend on a site over a period. Similarly, the average time spent by a user on Naukri is 22.5 minutes, which is nearly twice as long as that spent on its competing sites, according to the release.

Launched in September 2005 as a gateway to the country's property market, 99acres is an information exchange for buying, renting and selling residential and commercial properties. The Web site enables direct contact with brokers and builders in cities in urban and remote parts of India. The portal lists over 200,000 residential and commercial properties for sale and more than 350 new projects. The Web site has a registered database of 15,00,000 and generates over 12,000 leads everyday.

Naukri.com is a recruitment platform started in 1997 providing hiring-related services with multiple products such as resume database access, and response management tools and its services include job postings, and recruiter branding solutions on the site. With 200,000 jobs live at any point, Naukri.com serviced over 42000 corporate clients in 2010-2011.
