The stock of Prime Focus has been on fire with an 84 percent gain in the last one year as the company benefitted significantly from the revival in the movie industry over the last 18 months.

The company offers visual effects, post-production and digital asset management services among other offerings to several production houses overseas, who outsource the non-core work to studios in countries such as India.

Increasing focus on visual effects in the domestic film industry too has helped expand the market.

In the nine months of FY10, the company saw its revenues expand by 27.8 percent to Rs 452.8 crore, while net profits grew by 129.2 percent to Rs 33.4 crore.

Prime Focus has provided its services for movies such as Avatar, Clash of the Titans, Robin Hood and domestically to the likes of 3 Idiots and My Name is Khan. It has also increasingly ventured into providing its offering to commercials as well.

The order pipeline looks quite robust for Prime Focus.

The company has won a Rs 200 crore deal for 2D to 3D conversion project for a Hollywood studio, which is to be executed over 30-36 months' timeframe. A similar deal has been signed with Lucasfilm for 3D conversion of some of the episodes of the hugely popular Star Wars series.

Prime Focus has also tied up with UTV Motion Pictures for providing its services to a series of movies that the latter is set to release.
