Aadhaar deadline extended
The Employee Provident Fund Organisation has extended the deadline for submitting Aadhaar number to June 30, 2017, for its over four crore members. For residents in the north-eastern States, the deadline is September 30, 2017. The EPFO, in January, had made it mandatory for its pensioners and subscribers to submit Aadhaar numbers by April 30.
Atal Pension Yojana is online
If you have subscribed to the Atal Pension Yojana Scheme, you can now avail certain online facilities such as viewing and printing your ePRAN card and statement of transactions. All you need to do is visit the Atal Pension Yojana section at www.npscra.nsdl.co.in and log in by entering your bank account number and date of birth, with/without PRAN details. But Aadhaar seeding facility is not yet available online for Atal Pension account holders. They can have it done at their bank branch or post office.
Capital gains tax notifications
The Central Board of Direct Taxes has come out with a final notification specifying transactions that will attract capital gains tax where the securities transaction tax (STT) hasn’t been paid. These include acquiring existing listed equity shares through a preferential issue in a company whose shares are not frequently traded, transactions off the stock exchange, and acquisition during the delisting period of the company. However, other genuine transactions such as employee stock options and acquisitions by modes such as gifts will be exempt.
